The Professional Development Institute offers two options to document completion of your online course. Basic information is provided below. For more detailed information on each option, click the appropriate links. Note that you should be sure to check with your district or state as to whether or not you are required to provide an official university transcript in order to receive proper credit for your course.
Post-Baccalaureate (Graduate) Credit from UC San Diego Extension: Choose this option if your district/state requires that you present an official university transcript to document course completion. The University of California San Diego (UCSD) Extension, in association with the Professional Development Institute, offers post-baccalaureate (graduate) credit for all PDI online courses. UCSD is a fully accredited university (Western Association of Colleges and Universities) located in southern California. UCSD Extension credits are generally used for salary advancement and/or credential renewal. Most PDI courses are worth 3 ⅓ semester units (equivalent to 5 quarter units or 50 hours of training). The cost for 3 ⅓ semester units of university credit is $184 with the 20% off discount (regularly $230). If you pay for university credit, you will receive an official university transcript with a letter grade upon course completion. Click here for more information about UCSD credit.
Official PDI Grade Report: Not all teachers are required to have a university transcript to document course completion. So, PDI offers the option of obtaining an official PDI grade report. Fees for an official PDI grade report are $15 per report. Click here for more information about PDI's official grade report.
PDI Official Grade Report with Addendum Letter: This option includes the PDI Official Grade Report along with an accompanying letter to serve as confirmation for participants who have requested and paid for university credit but need documentation in the interim while transcripts are in progress. The cost is $20. The addendum letter is attached to the PDI grade report and will include notification that the course has been completed along with notification that transcripts are “in progress.” For participants who have requested and paid for university credit, this is a helpful document to have while waiting for transcripts. This document can be faxed upon request.
If you have questions about which option is best for you, please contact the PDI Registrar, Amanda Taylor, at firstname.lastname@example.org.
